Beyond Stoker's Dracula: NOSFERATU

These are my 20 sketch cards for Cult Stuff's upcoming "Beyond Stoker's Dracula" vampire trading card set. I decided to do entirely Nosferatu sketches for this set. Played around with exaggerating his features a little and varied up the style here and there.  Let me know what you think!

Zelda's Zombie Zoo at Detroit Fanfare

I was recently a guest illustrator on a very cool and unique children's book coming out this month (debuting at Detroit Fanfare October 25th!). It's a zombie children's book, which created a little bit of a challenge in doing a tasteful illustration of something dead, rotting, and hungry for brains. In this book the character goes to a Zombie Zoo full of undead fun. Each animal is illustrated by a different artist, meaning over 25 artists worked on this one single children's book. The coolest part? This book will be available to purchase at Fanfare and the author and every single one of the artists will be there. That means you can get EVERY signature on the book! How cool is that?
Here is illustration from the book, and also some info on the book from the Detroit Fanfare website.

Making its debut at Detroit Fanfare will be a kid’s book starring Zelda as she gives a quick guide through her most unusual zoo…a zoo full of all zombie animals.  FULL COLOR, this excursion through the zombie zoo features illustrations from over 25 artists, each drawing their version of the zombiefed animals.  And to make it really special, all the creators contributing will be at Detroit Fanfare.  It’s the ultimate autograph extravaganza!  Published by Binary Publications, publishers of such fine titles at Jack Davis art books, Bettie Page, and much more. Written by Gary Reed and illustrated by Terry Pavlet.

Joshua Werner Viceroy Space APs

Hi everyone! I have been terribly neglecting my blog, which is regrettable, but it is because I've been so busy! So busy working and doing events that I have an overwhelming amount to post about, so you will probably see a lot of new posts soon!
Before I post the last few sets of cards I've worked on, I thought I'd show people what I did for the Space AP cards from the Viceroy set. These cards follow the theme of my cards from the set, mostly being of old historical astronomers, their inventions, and also constellation map style sketches.
I had 12 AP cards, all of which were commissioned and have happy homes now, which totals to 49 Joshua Werner Space sketches in existence (in case anyone wants to update their lists).
And here are the cards, they were challenging, a couple of them extremely challenging, but I'm proud of how they turned out. Your feedback is always welcomed and appreciated, and also I love to see pictures of collectors with their cards so you can always email me pics at or post them on the facebook wall at

Feast of the Dead to Debut at Detroit Zombie Con

Source Point Press has announced the release of their two zombie anthologies, "Feast of the Dead" and “Feast of the Dead: Hors D’oeuvres”, to debut at the Detroit Zombie Con on August 17th. These books collect together zombie stories, poems, and artwork from some of the best in the horror business.
"Although considered part of modern folklore, zombies and the undead have been terrifying cultures around the world for thousands of years," says Source Point Press Editor-In-Chief Trico Lutkins. "Their success in the 60s and 70s was due in part to zombies being an allegory for communism. The thought of masses with no sense of self seemed terrifying to the Western World where individualism is held as a prized trait. Zombies have seen a resurgence in recent years, perhaps due to fears that technology meant to help us communicate better is actually creating a disconnect between people.” He says that these fears seem evident in more recent zombie fiction, “where there has been a shift from depicting the fear of the hordes consuming their victims toward showing how the survivors band together and reconnect without technology’s aid or intervention.” Feast of the Dead collects stories that chronicle the survivors of a plague and how they save not only their lives, “but also their humanity,” says Lutkins. Among the talented horror authors featured are Niccolo Skill, Mathias Jansson, Gary Reed (the creator of the Deadworld comic series), Jay Wilburn (Life Among the Zombies and Loose Ends), and several others.

While Feast of the Dead focuses on short stories from a diverse and talented collection of authors, Hors D’oeuvres collects even shorter stories, poetry, illustrations, and even some surprise celebrity interviews. “We’re very excited at the incredible talent being featured,” states Joshua Werner, Source Point’s Art Director. “FotD: Hors D’oeuvres will feature some illustrations from artists who’ve really contributed to the zombie genre, such as Jerry Gaylord from Fanboys Vs. Zombies and Mark Bloodworth of Deadworld fame. We’re proud to announce that Hors D’oeuvres will also feature exclusive in-depth interviews with horror film FX legend Robert Kurtzman and actress Emma Bell who played ‘Amy’ on The Walking Dead.” Kurtzman’s makeup and special FX contributions to the horror genre seem endless, including films such as Evil Dead II, Army of Darkness, Wishmaster, From Dusk Till Dawn, Jason Goes to Hell, Texas Chainsaw 3D, Hostel, and The Devil’s Rejects. “Emma gave us a really fantastic interview,” Werner says, “and fans of The Walking Dead will really want to check out the things we discussed about the show, as well as other projects she’s working on.”
In addition to the two Feast of the Dead anthologies premiering at the Detroit Zombie Con, Source Point Press will also be debuting the first issue of their new comic series Classic Pulp, which will focus on horror stories, as well as the re-release of the popular book Adoration for the Dead: Tales of Insanity and Terror.
Source Point Press is an independent press that publishes anthologies, novels, chapbooks,
comics, and graphic novels. They have a number of products available and scheduled for release in the near future including the comic series "Serial" and "Source Point Press Presents", the anthologies "Alter Egos Volume One" and "Alter Egos Volume Two", and the books "Delightfully Wicked Poetic Tales", and "Weird Little Kid".
